Bollywood actress and India’s Virat Kohli’s stalwart wife Anushka Sharma was recently seen posing with the family of India’s rising sensation Nitish Kumar Reddy at the MCG after the play on the second day of the Test of Boxing Day. The picture, which went viral on social media, shows Anushka Sharma posing with Nitish Kumar Reddy’s parents and sister.
Anushka’s support for Virat Kohli continues in Melbourne
Anushka is currently in Melbourne to support her husband Virat Kohli. She has been seen several times in the stands cheering him on during the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Series. Kohli, one of India’s most famous cricketers, is currently in the middle of the high-stakes Test series. However, Anushka’s presence has been a source of support for the Indian star.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy’s family is also in Melbourne to support their son. Nitish made his Test debut for the Indian team during the first Test of the series. Since then, he has continued to impress with both bat and ball. In the three Tests he played, he scored 179 runs at an average of 44.75 and looked one of India’s strongest batsmen on the tour. Apart from that, he has also taken 3 wickets.
Boxing Day test: Australia sets the pace
In the Boxing Day Test, at the iconic MCG, Australia took control after Day 2. Australia posted a formidable total of 474, with Steve Smith’s brilliant 140 and Usman Khawaja’s 57 leading the charge. Despite India’s efforts, the visitors found themselves trailing by 310 runs at stumps, with India at 164 for 5.
India’s response saw the first wickets fall, with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul struggling. However, youngsters Yashasvi Jaiswal, with a superb 82, and Kohli, with 36, mounted a brief comeback. However, their efforts were thwarted as Australia’s latest advance, led by Scott Boland, proved too much. Jaiswal’s unfortunate exit and Kohli’s dismissal in quick succession left India with a tough climb ahead.
Kohli and Jaiswal’s fight is interrupted
The Indian pair of Jaiswal and Kohli had started building a promising partnership after India lost the first wickets. Jaiswal’s attacking approach, particularly against the short ball, provided some respite for India. His six off Mitchell Marsh was the highlight before he was run out of the ball in a dramatic moment when Pat Cummins’ strong shot caught him close to the box.
Kohli, determined to silence the critics and regain his form, looked solid during his stay. Starc’s crisp cover drives and powerful moves added hope, but he fell to Boland’s immaculate line and length, leaving India in a precarious position.
