A suspect was arrested for the bloody robbery in Rio de Janeiro that injured the former Secretary of Tourism of Bariloche

SAN CARLOS DE BARILOCHE.- The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro arrested Sandro da Silva Vicente, alias “Sandrinho”, the main suspect of having shot Gastón Burlón a week ago, the former Secretary of Tourism of Bariloche who remains in intensive care.

Judge Alessandra da Rocha Lima Roidis ordered Sandrinho’s detention for 30 days. The man, who lives in the Prazeres community, has more than 20 criminal records.

In addition, members of the Special Delegation for Tourism Support (Deat), in charge of the investigation, identified three men who would have participated in the attack in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro. These are Cláudio Augusto dos Santos (known as Jiló), Tiago de Oliveira and Raphael Corrêa Pontes (alias De Lara). And there is a fifth suspect who was involved in the attempted murder but has not yet been identified.

As reported by the authorities, Sandrinho’s arrest is “fundamental for the continuity and success of police investigations, as it will allow the collection of new statements, the preparation of reports, the production of image reports, as well as the identification of the another individual who approached the group.”

Meanwhile, although the Public Ministry of the Brazilian city had requested the arrest of all the suspects, the judge considered that there was not enough evidence in the cases of Dos Santos, De Olivera and Corrêa Pontes.

Burlón – who a year ago became president of the Argentine Chamber of Student Tourism – was on vacation in Rio de Janeiro with his partner, the current Secretary of Tourism of Salta, Nadia Loza, his two children and the girlfriend of one of his sons. .

“On our first day touring Rio, Gastón was driving a rented vehicle and we were heading to Christ the Redeemer. Next to him was Agustín, his eldest son, and, behind him, Santiago (younger son), Micaela (Agustín’s girlfriend) and me. We followed the GPS directions as we do so many other times and, around 2:30 p.m., we turned down a narrow, steep street in Santa Tereza where we didn’t see anything out of the ordinary,” Loza said.

He added that “surprisingly” two people appeared pointing guns at them on both sides and fired four shots, causing them to lose control of the car and crash into a wall.

According to the Salta official’s story, the following minutes were “despairing” and the first to react was Agustín, Burlón’s eldest son, who got out of the rented vehicle and confronted the criminals shouting: “You killed my dad.” ”. With that phrase, the rest of the vehicle’s occupants realized that one of the shots had hit Gastón’s head. Another bullet hit his chest.

“At that moment, I saw that he was breathing, I started shouting that Gastón was alive and Agustín ran to get help asking them to call an ambulance,” Nadia recalled and added: “Everything happened very quickly, someone on a motorcycle picked up one of the criminals.” . We didn’t see the other one anymore, but nothing else mattered other than saving Gastón and we tried to avoid further blood loss by putting pressure on the wound.”

The woman pointed out that, 30 minutes after the attack, the firefighters arrived and took Burlón to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, while the rest of the family were taken to testify at a police station in the area.

According to the reconstruction of the episode, when they were heading to Christ the Redeemer, Burlón and his family entered – mistakenly guided by the GPS – onto a road that leads to Morro dos Prazeres, a community located in Santa Tereza and dominated by the Red Command, the oldest criminal group in Brazil.
