Barcelona will face one of its most important games of the season on Saturday night when it faces Atlético de Madrid at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic.
Having dropped points quite frequently in the league over the past few weeks, the blaugrana have allowed Diego Simeone’s men to catch up with them in the standings, with both teams tied on points while Red and white even have a game in hand.
As such, there is simply no margin for error for the Catalan giants when they take the field tomorrow in what will be their last game before the mid-season break.
There is no Héctor Fort in training
However, ahead of Saturday’s match against Atlético Madrid, Barcelona may have to do without one of their youngest talents, Héctor Fort.
Indeed, according to journalist Víctor Navarro, the 18-year-old right back is not training with the rest of the team today.
Furthermore, SPORT reports that the teenager is suffering from some muscle problems and will therefore not be able to play tonight against Atlético de Madrid.
Fort has been a regular in the first team squad this season, although the young defender has struggled to get minutes.
So far this season, the 18-year-old has made ten appearances for the first team, accumulating just under 300 minutes in the process.
With Jules Kounde securing the right-back position, it has not been easy for Fort to find a place in the team.
And although it was highly unlikely that he would have appeared tomorrow against Atlético de Madrid, he has now been ruled out of the contest because he did not train with the rest of the team today.
Barcelona is already without three players due to injury: Lamine Yamal, Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Marc Bernal for the match.
Although Andreas Christensen has returned to full training, it is unlikely that he will be included in the squad for the clash against The Colchoneros.
Ansu Fati, however, could receive the medical discharge for tomorrow’s game.
