The Barcelona youngster reflects on the dream of winning his first title: “It would be fantastic to win the first”

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi shared his memories of the 2023 Spanish Super Cup final, where Barcelona beat Real Madrid.

Reflecting on the game, Cubarsi recalled watching the game with his family at his grandparents’ house. He was clearly proud of his team’s performance and noted how Barcelona dominated the match, outperforming their rivals in every way.

“I remember seeing it at my grandparents’ house, with my family. “They played very well, they were superior to Real Madrid and they won very clearly.” he said quoted by MARCA.

According to him, the match was one of his personal favorites, not only because of the opponent but also because of his team’s good performance that day.

“It is one of the games that I have enjoyed the most, because of the rival and how we played. The team gave 100%.”

Chance to win your first trophy

Although he was not part of the squad that day, Cubarsi is now at the heart of Barcelona’s defensive line. After making his debut just over a year ago, the young centre-back has quickly become a key figure for the team.

However, despite his growing influence and contributions, he is yet to achieve a major title with the club.

Cubarsi expressed his desire to win his first trophy with Barcelona, highlighting how special it would be to win a title, particularly the Super Cup, as his first.

“It would be fantastic to win the first one. I hope there are many more, but you always have to start with one and it would be nice if it were the Super Cup.” said.

Looking ahead, Cubarsi is aware of the challenges that await him, especially as the competition’s semi-final approaches.

Barcelona will face a tough test against Ernesto Valverde’s Athletic Club, a team known for its resilience and competitive spirit. Cubarsi knows that the match will not be easy and highlights the importance of giving the best performance to ensure victory.

“Athletic is always a difficult game, we have to give our best” he concluded.
