Rohit Sharma ready for international cricket final at Champions Trophy

Rohit Sharma is reportedly all set to play his last international cricket in the Champions Trophy. The Indian cricket team is scheduled to travel to England, after the ICC event, to play five Test matches that would begin the new cycle of the World Test Championship. Reportedly, “the chance of Rohit going to England for five Test matches is very slim.”

“I’m not going anywhere”

Rohit Sharma had opted out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series final in Sydney, in which Australia eventually won the final Test match and clinched the BGT after 10 years. Although in his interview with Star Sports during the match, Rohit said, “I am not going anywhere”, the outcome of the series did not change the scenario much. Not only experts, but also fans are discouraged, and the posts on social media prove it. Rohit’s future in the format has been a topic of discussion ever since.

Rohit’s future in international cricket

A report by Dainik Jagran today said that the Indian captain is unlikely to feature again in international cricket after the upcoming Champions Trophy. The team will travel to England after the Champions Trophy to begin the new World Test Championship cycle with a 5-match Test series. The report mentions that Rohit’s participation in that tour is “very minor”.

By the way, former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist talked about it a while ago in a podcast. “I don’t see Rohit going to England. I just felt like he’s saying he’ll evaluate it when he gets home. I mean, the first thing you’ll find when you get home is a two-month-old baby whose diapers you’ll have to change. That might encourage him to go to England. But I don’t see him pushing,” he said. Adding: “I think he’ll probably get a shot at the Champions Trophy, and that could be… that could eliminate him,” he added.
