How much money does DD Barcelona really earn from Nico González’s movement?

The Nico González Transfer Agreement of FC Porto to Manchester City has taken a confusing turn for Barcelona.

Initially, the club received 40% of the profits of its transfer, which was expected to amounted to 20.64 million euros. This figure was based on Manchester City triggering its 60 million euros release clause.

However, Porto, the club that had previously bought half of the capital gains in Nico’s transfer rights, announced a significant change in the agreement.

Instead of the expected € 20.64 million, Barcelona will now receive just over € 13 million. This is because, according to Mundo Deportivo, Porto had already bought 50% of the profits for € 3 million.

What is happening?

Porto made this adjustment public with an official statement. They confirmed that they had exercised an option to buy 20% of Barcelona’s capital profits for 3 million euros, which means that Barcelona’s participation has been reduced to only 20%.

In addition, Porto canceled the Barcelona repurchase option in Nico, which was valued at 30 million euros and could have been exercised until June 30, 2025.

Drawing, Barcelona will now receive 20% of the capital gains of the transfer rate of 60 million euros from Manchester, which amounts to € 10.32 million.

The remaining 3 million come from the agreement where Porto bought half of Barcelona’s original participation of capital profits. Then, in total, Barcelona will win € 13.32 million of Nico’s transfer to Manchester City.

When he adds the € 8.5 million that Porto paid Barcelona for Nico in the summer of 2023, the total amount will receive Barcelona from the two transfers reaches € 21.82 million.

This is the final sum that will go to the coffers of Barcelona after the complicated trip of the transfers of Nico González.
