Gavi says that his Barcelona teammate is already the best in the world: “Only behind Messi”

After FC Barcelona’s spectacular 5-1 victory against Real Betis in the Copa del Rey, Gavi, one of the most prominent players, spoke to the press about his teammates and the team’s recent form.

The young midfielder shone on Wednesday night alongside Pedri, Frenkie de Jong and Dani Olmo, the latter playing as a false nine.

Gavi got his name on the scoreboard against his boyhood club with a left-footed shot inside the box early in the match.

He The Masia Gem’s performance assured fans that he is returning to his pre-injury form, which is a huge boost for Barcelona after being sidelined for a year due to a cruciate ligament injury, which also affected his meniscus. .

Speaking to the media, Gavi praised Lamine Yamal, calling him the best in the world, only behind Barcelona legend Lionel Messi.

“For me he is the best in the world, only behind Messi.” Gavi commented.

“Lamine has a lot of talent, the best at the moment. But it is silly to compare him with Messi because there will only be one Messi. He is unique, as there will only be one Xavi, one Iniesta or one Busquets. “We have to make our own path.” he added.

The midfielder also addressed rumors about Ronald Araujo’s possible departure from the club, ruling out a departure in January.

“Barça fans must remain calm” Gavi said. “Many journalists invent things, but Araujo is going to stay. Many things are reported in the press, but many of them are false. “I have always trusted that Ronald will stay.” he stated firmly.

The midfielder also reflected on the team’s recent drop in form, attributing it more to a lack of results than to poor play.

“Today we played very well, as we needed to” he stated.

“In our recent losses, we didn’t deserve the results, but the ball just didn’t go in. I don’t think the fall was due to our play but rather to the lack of goals. “We deserved to win all the games in which we lost points.”

When asked what his preferred position on the field was, Gavi left it up to the coach: “I can play in several positions, but it is the coach’s decision.”
