After weeks of legal battle, Barcelona have finally secured the right to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor for the season.
The Spanish Sports Council (CSD) issued a precautionary measure that allows the club to register players, which represents an important victory for the Catalan club after weeks of uncertainty and financial maneuvers.
This decision came as a relief to the board of directors and especially to president Joan Laporta, who had been visibly under pressure to resolve the situation.
Discontent over Deco and Masip’s inopportune vacations
However, despite the momentous victory, discontent is growing in the upper echelons of the club, reports Catalunya Radio (h/t Diario SPORT).
There has reportedly been considerable discontent over the absence of Deco, sporting director, and Enric Masip, presidential advisor, during the critical phases of the Olmo and Víctor discharge saga.
Both were on vacation when the situation was at its peak, which has not sat well with some members of the board, especially at a time when Ferran Olive and Joan Laporta were actively managing the crisis.
No tension in the relationship
Although the absence caused some internal friction, the relationship between Laporta and Masip does not seem tense.
They were seen celebrating together in the King Abdullah Stadium box after Barcelona’s 0-2 victory over Athletic Club.
However, the episode has sparked debates about responsibility and commitment among key figures at the club in times of crisis.
Meanwhile, Laporta would also be disappointed with the Catalan press for their coverage of the matter. It is possible that he will address these issues at a press conference scheduled for next Tuesday.
