The situation surrounding unregistered Barcelona player Dani Olmo has drawn attention far beyond La Liga.
Clubs across Europe are closely monitoring developments, especially with the possibility of the talented midfielder becoming available during the winter transfer window.
However, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl made it clear that the German champions do not plan to take advantage of Barcelona’s current problems.
Olmo’s registration dilemma has sparked significant interest, not only in Spain but across the European football landscape.
Speculation had emerged linking Bayern Munich as one of the clubs closely monitoring the situation.
Bayern are not interested
However, Eberl dismissed such claims, stating that Bayern are not particularly interested in pursuing the player in these circumstances.
In a recent interview, Eberl was asked about Olmo’s situation at Barcelona.
He admitted that he needed to better understand Spanish regulations regarding player registration. However, he firmly stated that this is not a topic of great interest to Bayern Munich.
“First I have to familiarize myself with Spanish regulations to know what ‘registered’ or ‘unregistered’ means, but it is not something that interests us much,” he said quoted by SPORT.
While acknowledging Olmo’s quality as a footballer, Eberl tactfully avoided fueling speculation about Bayern’s involvement.
“He is a good player, yes. But if I say no, it would look bad.” he added.
What’s new with Olmo?
Meanwhile, the latest updates from Spain suggest that Barcelona could soon receive some relief in this case, as the Higher Sports Council (CSD) could grant an injunction allowing Barcelona to temporarily register Olmo and Pau Víctor.
If approved, this decision would allow both players to appear in LaLiga and make them available to coach Hansi Flick.
However, this record may not arrive in time for Barcelona’s upcoming Super Cup semi-final, but could still be finalized before a potential final appearance.
