Barcelona will meet with the captain’s agents to discuss the conditions of contract renewal

Ronald Araujo appeared to have one foot on the move from Barcelona less than 48 hours ago, as the player insisted on leaving the club in search of greener pastures.

Although he was always in favor of remaining in Catalonia, the Uruguayan was worried about the lack of prominence he might face under Hansi Flick, especially given the impressive form of Pau Cubarsi and Íñigo Martínez, and therefore tried to force an exit.

Finally, the player changed his mind and decided to stay at Barcelona at least until the end of the season after speaking with sports director Deco, who explained that he is highly valued in the team and that leaving in January would not be good for any game. .

Although Araujo will now remain at Barcelona until the end of the season, the club hopes to tie him down for the long term by offering him a five-year renewal.

At the same time, however, they want to satisfy the player’s desire for a lower release clause to retain the option to leave should his role diminish.

As transmitted by Sports World In a recent update, Barcelona are scheduled to meet with Araujo’s agents in the coming days to discuss his future and contract renewal.

On that day, the parties will not only discuss the financial terms of their new deal, but will also negotiate a release clause that works for both parties should the player choose to leave in the near future.

Given that relations between Barcelona and Araujo have improved significantly in recent days and the player will receive more prominence on the field, the situation appears to be resolved for now.

Furthermore, considering Íñigo Martínez’s age, it is clear as day that the club views Araujo as Cubarsi’s long-term defensive partner and that a lack of playing time will likely never emerge as an obstacle.
