Barcelona could lose the chance to sign one of their main attacking targets, Mohamed Salah, as the Egyptian winger has reportedly become a priority for Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, AS reports.
This unexpected development comes after reports that Neymar’s future at Al Hilal appears uncertain. The Brazilian striker is in the final months of his time at the Saudi club and there are no ongoing talks regarding a contract renewal at present.
As a result, attention has now shifted to Salah, who has become the Saudi team’s main target.
Al Hilal wants Salah
Al Hilal is planning for the future and seems determined not to repeat the mistakes of the past. Among all the names being considered, Salah stands out as his preferred option.
The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), which largely backs Al Hilal, has reportedly been working for years to persuade Salah to move to the Middle East.
With his Liverpool contract expiring in June, as does Neymar’s, it looks increasingly unlikely that Salah will remain in the Premier League beyond this season.
Barcelona is also attentive
This situation has also caught the attention of Barcelona. Salah has consistently been one of the best players in the world for several seasons, making him an attractive prospect for the Catalan giants.
His uncertain future at Liverpool has sparked widespread speculation, especially after he expressed displeasure at the lack of a contract renewal offer. This has put several big European clubs on alert, Barcelona being one of them.
While Barcelona have yet to take concrete steps, Salah’s availability could prove tempting, especially as they continue to evaluate their attacking options.
Lamine Yamal’s presence on the right wing has given the team a boost, but Salah’s experience and proven track record could add more firepower to his front line.
However, with Al Hilal actively pursuing the Egyptian star, Barcelona may face stiff competition if they decide to enter the race for his signature.
