Barcelona’s most recent victory over Deportivo Alaves served as a reminder of Lamine Yamal’s talent, since the striker dripped the opposite defenders at will.
Although Yamal was not involved in the winning goal, Yamal has enjoyed a fairly productive season so far.
Yamal’s case is the MVP this season
Lamine’s performances have been consistently exceptional, which earned him the game player award in five League matches against Athletic, Girona, Getafe, Betis and Alaves.
As mentioned earlier, the performance against Alaves was particularly notable, since the striker tried 21 dribbles and completed 11 of them, thus ensuring a milestone for the last time reached by nothing less than Lionel Messi.
Its impact is not limited to the domestic game. In the Champions League, Lamine also shone brilliantly, assuring the players of the match in matches against Borussia Dortmund and Atalanta.
His technical skill, combined with his vision and execution, has been fundamental in the key games, including both Classic as well as both games against Bayern and Dortmund.
Statistics also support their MVP claim; Lamine leads the league in successful dribbles, with 72 of 140 attempts. With only 17 years, Yamal has accumulated 10 goals and 16 assists, in just 29 competitive games.
Their praise extend beyond the field, having been appointed in the world of the best FIFA World Eleven awards, ensuring the Kopa trophy for the best young player at the Golden Ball gala, and ensuring the Golden Boy award.
Yamal, therefore, makes a strong argument to become the most valuable player in the league this season.
However, the Barcelona striker will face a tough competition from his own teammates, including Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski. Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid also makes a strong case after a strong start by 2025.
