Barcelona midfielder’s relationship with Hansi Flick reaches turning point: report

Frenkie de Jong’s time at FC Barcelona could be coming to an end as Transfer reports suggest his relationship with manager Hansi Flick has deteriorated.

This comes after Barcelona’s victory over Athletic Club in the Spanish Super Cup, which secured their place in the final.

Despite the win, Flick expressed frustration at De Jong’s performance, which has now led to discussions over the midfielder’s future at the club.

According to sources close to the Club, Flick has urged Barcelona president Joan Laporta to manage De Jong’s departure as soon as possible.

Flick is not happy with De Jong

Flick was especially unhappy with De Jong’s contribution during the match. Despite his entry as a substitute with the intention of adding energy to the team, the Dutchman’s performance was irregular.

A defensive error almost cost Barcelona a goal, although Athletic’s attempt was disallowed for offside. While De Jong showed some offensive promise with a shot that nearly missed, Flick appears to feel the midfielder does not fit into his tactical setup.

This has left the manager questioning whether De Jong will be able to continue playing an important role in the team.

contractual problem

With a contract that runs until 2026, De Jong’s future at the club appears uncertain. In fact, it has been suggested that Barcelona are open to listening to offers for the midfielder.

This is a significant reduction in the player’s market value, reflecting a decrease in his position within the team.

Flick’s decision places Barcelona’s sports management in a difficult situation, which will now need to find a suitable replacement for a player who arrived with high expectations.

Meanwhile, other European clubs could be keeping an eye on the situation and see an opportunity to sign De Jong at a reduced price. The outcome of this situation could have lasting implications for both Barcelona and the midfielder’s career.
