Earlier this week, Barcelona’s long legal battle bore fruit by obtaining a precautionary measure from the Higher Sports Council (CSD).
The CSD’s precautionary measure allowed Barcelona to re-register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, effectively making them available for the upcoming Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid.
Following the CSD ruling, Barcelona defender Íñigo Martínez has offered information on how these two dealt with the situation during the registration saga.
Martínez on Olmo and Víctor
“Having two unregistered players is hard for them as well as for the rest. Seeing them every day was not easy,” Martínez revealed in a recent interview (h/t Sports World).
“There was a lot of commotion around this. “No one is more eager than them.” added the defender, facing the Super Cup final.
Although Víctor didn’t have many options, Olmo had to go through a difficult few weeks, especially amid interest from some of Europe’s best clubs.
Speaking about the Super Cup final, Martínez said that Barcelona is willing to hurt Real Madrid.
“We are motivated and excited, we hope that everything goes as we want and we can give more joy to the fans. We know how to hurt Real Madrid. We go after them with full confidence.” said the veteran.
The availability of Olmo and Víctor could be a big boost for Barcelona, although it remains to be seen if either of them will start against. The Whites.
Although Víctor will surely play on the bench, Olmo would bet on the starting eleven. But with Gavi playing well in the last game, Hansi Flick might want to keep the same lineup that started against Athletic Club.
“We had to start 2025 well and keeping a clean sheet in both games gives us that boost.“said the defender when asked about the victory against the Basque team.
Indeed, keeping a clean sheet will be Barcelona’s top priority as the Catalans look to replicate the success of a 4-0 win. The Whites during the first half of the campaign.
