Barcelona close in on 18-year-old Arsenal prodigy but Man United lead the race: Romano

Barcelona continues to monitor the market for promising young players to add to their squad with an eye on the future.

Several interesting talents are on the Catalans’ radar, one of whom is Argentine prodigy Alex Woiski, who plies his trade with RCD Mallorca’s under-19 team.

Now, it seems that Barcelona has set its eyes on another promise, this time from England.

Barcelona approaches Ayden Heaven

In fact, according to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are interested in Arsenal’s defensive prodigy Ayden Heaven and have already moved closer to signing him.

Heaven, 18, has a contract with the Gunners that expires at the end of the season and is yet to sign his first professional contract with the London club.

Therefore, those interested can sign the teenager in exchange for a small compensation in the summer and Barcelona is one of the many interested clubs.

However, according to Romano’s update, it is Manchester United who are leading the race to sign Heaven as things stand. It is understood that the Red Devils have also contacted Arsenal regarding their youth prospect.

Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in signing the England under-19 international, while Arsenal are not ready to give up and have made a contract offer for the youngster.

Barcelona is an attractive destination for young talents considering that the first team is full of players from The Masia in key roles.

Players like Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Alejandro Balde, Pau Cubarsi and Marc Casado are all fixtures in the club’s first team setup.

Following in his footsteps and succeeding could attract a promising player like Heaven, although as things stand, it is Manchester United who are leading Barcelona and others in the transfer race.
